Description
Vanadium, also known as vanadine (in Old Icelandic Vana-dís ‘Wanendise, Wanenfrau’, a name of Freyja, the North Germanic goddess of beauty; the colourful appearance of some vanadium compounds gives it its name), is a chemical element in the periodic table of elements with the symbol V and atomic number 23. It is a rare, soft and tough metal in its pure state.
