Description

Tungsten is one of the densest elements known. It has a density of 19.3 g/cm³, a melting point of 3,410°C and a vapour pressure of 10-4 Torr at 2,757°C. It is lustrous and greyish white. It is known to have the highest melting point of all metals and its characteristic hardness can make it very difficult to machine and forge in its pure form.

Tungsten is commonly used in the manufacture of electrical filaments. Tungsten carbide is found in drills, saws and jewellery. Tungsten is evaporated under vacuum to make semiconductors, fuel cells and sensors.

* This is a recommendation based on our experience with these materials in our sputter guns. Rates are based on non-bonded targets and are material specific. Bonded targets should be operated at lower power to avoid bonding failure. Bonded targets should be operated at 20 watts/square inch or less depending on the material.
