Description

Terbium is a chemical element in the periodic table of elements, with atomic symbol Tb and atomic number 65.

A silver-grey rare earth metal, it is ductile and malleable. It can be cut with a knife. At temperatures above 1,298°C, α-terbium (hcp structure) transforms into β-terbium. Terbium is relatively stable in air, covering itself with an oxide layer. At temperatures above 150°C it burns to form terbium dioxide (TbO2). It reacts with water to form hydroxide, producing hydrogen.

* This is a recommendation based on our experience with these materials in our sputter guns. The rates are based on non-bonded targets and are material specific. Bonded targets should be operated at lower power to avoid bonding failure. Bonded targets should be operated at 20 watts/square inch or less depending on the material.
