Description

Rhodium is a chemical element in the periodic table of elements, with atomic symbol Rh and atomic number 45.

Rhodium is a silvery-white, very lustrous, durable, very hard metal with a high surface lustre. Its thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and reflectivity are higher than those of other platinum metals. Only at temperatures above 600°C does rhodium react with oxygen to form an oxide (Rh2O3), which decomposes at higher temperatures. Rhodium is not affected by mineral acids. Even hot aqua regia is slow to dissolve rhodium powder. It therefore has the properties of a precious metal. It dissolves in cyanide, alkali, soda and potassium hydrogen sulphate melts.

* This is a recommendation based on our experience with these materials in our sputter guns. Rates are based on unbonded targets and are material specific. Bonded targets should be operated at lower power to avoid bonding failure. Bonded targets should be operated at 20 watts/square inch or less depending on the material.
